Shelby Leigh Cook unexpectedly passed at age 25 on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the home of her parents. Born March 8, 2000, in Charlotte, NC, Shelby was the cherished daughter of Rob and Cheryl Cook.
She is survived by her parents, brother, Bobby Cook and future sister-in-law, Presly Bolick, uncle, Jim and aunt, Kim Lott, aunt, Susan Reeves, special uncle, Benny Marett, several cousins, her fur babies Cat and Jimi, and numerous friends.
Shelby was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert and Janette Cook, maternal grandparents, Stan and Jean Lott, aunt, Lisa Ford, and aunt, Nina Mastromichalis.
After graduating early from South Brunswick High School, Shelby earned an Associate of Arts degree from Cape Fear Community College followed by a Bachelor of Science in sociology from Arizona State University.
With a heart of gold, Shelby was a loyal friend to all who were blessed to know her. An animal lover, she even rescued her kitty despite allergies to cats. Shelby’s infectious laugh and bubbly personality lit up every room she entered. Shelby’s many past times included sunning on the beach, catching fish, shooting pool, watching football with her mom and dad, shopping, (did we say shopping?), writing, coloring, and spending time with family and friends. When she wasn’t enjoying her hobbies, Shelby was working in retail at Lexi B’s boutique in Southport, NC.
