

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ms. Susan Faye Walden Heafner, 75, beloved mother and grandmother who left us on Monday, March 2, 2026. Born March 9, 1950 in Charlotte, NC to the late James Raymond Walden and Beatrice Mollie Clark.
She is survived by her son, Luke Luther Brian Heafner (Allison), son Jonathan Eugene Heafner and granddaughters Kendall Heafner and Kinsley Heafner. Preceded in death by her husband Wesley Clarence Heafner.
Over the years, she lived in the Charlotte area. She was a 1968 graduate of West Charlotte High School then went on to attend Kings College where she received a degree in executive secretary studies. Her profession was with insurance and customer service at Duke Energy in Charlotte. Susan met the love of her life, her person and soulmate, Wesley on a blind date arranged by one of her friends. From that first date it was love at first sight. They were married on May 9, 1972 residing in Charlotte. Their first son, Luke was born in 1976 followed by Jon in 1978.
Susan was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed going to all the t-ball and baseball games year round with both boys until they graduated high school. She loved traveling with Wesley and spending time in the mountains especially during the fall when the leaves changed. Every year since their honeymoon, they went to Smokey Shadows Lodge in Maggie Valley for their anniversary in May.
In 2005, Susan and Wesley moved to the Southport, NC area to retire. Susan became Maw-Maw in 2008 (Kendall) and then in 2012 (Kinsley). She spoiled the girls and loved them unconditionally. She was involved with her church, loved thrifting, enjoyed spending time with family, planting flowers and loved her dog Sonny and new dog Teddy.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 6, 2026 at three o'clock in the afternoon at First Baptist Church of Oak Island,4608 E Oak Island Dr, Oak Island, NC . The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at one o'clock in the afternoon at Crooked Creek Church,7918 Crooked Creek Church Road, Monroe NC.
