Bill was born in Miami, Florida to Willis and Stephanie Harney on December 6, 1947. He grew up in Miami and after graduation from North Miami high school he started a career in the aviation industry at National Airlines. It is at National Airlines where he met his wife of 46 years, Patricia Harney (nee Dannelly). Bill would work for National Airlines and then Pan Am for nearly twenty years before moving to Charlotte where he entered the sales business. Bill was intensely dedicated to his family, his friends, and his community and was always the first one to offer a helping hand whenever needed. He loved to be involved and served on the board of the Charlotte Touchdown Club, was a volunteer at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, and served on many PTAs and homeowner boards throughout his life. Most importantly Bill lived to serve his family. He never missed a child or grandchild’s sports game, recital, or important life event. He cherished every moment with his family and was always planning the next family gathering and never missed an opportunity to take excessive amounts of family photos.
Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Stephanie Harney (nee Begos); father, Willis Harney, and brother Stephen Harney.
Bill is survived by his wife Patricia D Harney, three daughters Kellie O’Hara (Keith), Kerrie Harney, and Karen Saint-Lot (Ari), and four grandchildren Christian, Connor, Lillie, and Luke.
