Craig Marc Rappel, of Vero Beach Florida, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2023 at the age of 59 surrounded by his loving family. While his time with us was not enough, his bright smile and unlimited amount of random facts which he liked to share about anything and everything will live on in all of us.
He was born on October 9, 1963 in Kirksville Missouri, and moved to Hollywood, FL in 1968 where he grew up with his older brother, Michael and younger sister, Michele.
Craig earned a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree in History and Economics at the University of Florida. He enjoyed attending UF Gator games, joined Tau Epsilon Phi Fraternity and made many lifelong friends, and was in Florida Blue Key. It is here where found his passion for law. He followed his brother, Michael up to the University of Toledo for Law School, and roomed with him along with his Sister-in-law Perri. Craig graduated with honors earning his JD in 1988.
Craig moved back to Florida after law school and joined the State’s Attorney Office, 18th Judicial Circuit in Brevard County as an ASA. Craig loved the law and had such a passion for knowledge and justice.
In 1999, Craig moved to Vero Beach, FL to join forces with his father, Bob and opened Rappel Health Law Group. For the last 23 years, Craig represented many physicians, group practices and other healthcare entities in the State of Florida and was also a member of the bar and licensed to practice in the State of Michigan, State of Missouri, District of Columbia, along with their respective Federal components, England & Wales, and the Province of Ontario, Canada.
When Craig wasn’t practicing, he enjoyed reading historical biographies about past presidents and British monarchies, spending time with his two children and grandson, traveling with his girlfriend Joanne, watching UF play on Saturday’s and cooking delicious cuisine. His latest joy was spending time and constantly FaceTiming with his first grandchild, George IV better known to him as BG (Baby George) who is 7 months.
He was so full of life and anyone who knew him, loved him. He was a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. His wisdom and advice, vast knowledge and brilliance, infectious laugh, loving hugs, and true kindness will be extremely missed.
Craig is survived by his son Caleb Rappel, and daughter Emilie Howard (George) along with his grandson, George Howard IV. He is also survived by his father Dr. Robert (Josette) Rappel, mother Sandra (Bernard) Landers, brother Michael (Perri) Rappel, Sisters Michele (Tyler) Best, and Danielle (Cody) Van Horn, girlfriend Joanne Maury, and former wife JoAnn Crosby.
