Brenda was born September 9th, 1955 in Newton, NJ. She was the daughter of Leon Tichnor and Bernetta (Dyda) Tichnor. In her younger years Brenda loved to spend time with her parents and their large extended family at gatherings in Sussex County and Northern Pennsylvania. As an only child she cherished her family and it became a lifetime aspiration to have a family of her own.
Brenda started work in her early teens, working at the Sussex County Main Library and Bookmobile, riding her bicycle seven miles each way to and from work to home. She was a graduate of Newton High School class of 1974. After graduating, Brenda attended Flagler College in St Augustine, FL. Upon returning home, Brenda worked in Administration at several auto dealerships in Newton. She then worked to pursue a career in Criminal Justice at County of Morris at night and working office administration jobs in Morris County. It was at one of these jobs that she met the love of her life and future husband, Martin Jacoby.
Brenda and Martin were married in 1989 at Saint Joseph’s Church in Newton and shared 32 years of marriage together. Brenda gave up her aspirations for a degree and a career to raise a family with Martin, which was the joy and most fulfilling accomplishment of her life. Brenda and Martin lived first in Whippany, NJ, and later settled in Andover Township in 1997 to raise their daughters Melissa and Sophia.
All through the years Brenda focused her time on her family. She loved raising the girls and traveling with them and Martin on short and week- long trips along the east coast - dozens of locations from Maine to Southern Florida. She especially loved the Beaches and Coasts of New Jersey and Florida and found great relaxation in making detailed pencil sketches of the scenery. Weekend trips to Hyde Park, NY, and Annual Trips to Jupiter, FL were also a regular part of the routine for decades.
As her health declined in recent years, Brenda never gave up her spirit, satisfied to get out of the house with Martin as often as they could. She looked forward to a short trip to sit by the lake at a local park to just soak up the sun, scenery and wildlife, or an early morning trip out to the Poconos to try her luck on the slots and get a light lunch at one of her favorite eateries and be home by 3PM. Brenda was always upbeat and self-assured she had lived a full life and reached her goals for having a family and kept her faith in the Lord. She also loved to talk and reminisce about her life experiences with family and friends right to her last days.
Brenda will be remembered for her endless love and care for her family. She is survived by her husband Martin Jacoby and her two beloved daughters Melissa Kristine Jacoby and Sophia Anne Jacoby, mother-in-law Mildred (Ruhmer) Jacoby, Brother-in-law Eric Ruhmer Jacoby, sister-in-laws Emilia Jacoby-Twigg, Allison (Bowen) Jacoby and Deborah Jacoby-Twigg, Nieces Emma Cozier Jacoby and Sara Redman Jacoby and Nephews Scott Ruhmer Jacoby, Noah Jacoby- Twigg and Nathaniel Jacoby- Twigg. She was predeceased by her Father Leon Tichnor and Bernetta (Dyda) Tichnor and father-in-law Edwin Axel Jacoby.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 5 – 7PM at Goble Funeral Home 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871 with a service at 6:15PM. Interment will be held on Friday, 12PM at Union Cemetery 1076 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538.
