

Charles David Barnes, 72, of Sparta, New Jersey passed away on September 1, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in Manhattan, New York. He was born in South Bend, Indiana and was a resident of Sparta, New Jersey for 32 years. Charles was a proud member of the United States Navy Seabees Construction Battalion where earned a spot on the illustrious All Navy Shooting Team. He was a member of the American Legion Post 491, Sparta, New Jersey. He worked as a Director of Systems Engineering and Performance Management at Telcordia Technologies in Piscataway, New Jersey retiring in 2004 after 42 years of dedicated service in telecommunications. Charles coached American Legion baseball, loved racquetball, golf, bird watching, crossword puzzles but loved being around his family, most especially his grandchildren. Charles is survived by his beloved wife Linda Prochazka Barnes; beloved children: David Charles Barnes and his wife Diane of Los Angles, California; Michael Corey Barnes and his spouse Tracey Shrouder of Greensboro, North Carolina; and Heather Kirk of Sparta, New Jersey. Charles is also survived by his grandchildren: Jordan Travis Barnes, Alec Jarren Barnes, Luke Pennington Barnes and Isabella Felicia Kirk; sister Sharry Inlow and her husband Roy, brother Michael Barnes and his wife Nancy and his late brother Robert Barnes and his surviving spouse Donetta Barnes. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 12pm-4pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St, Sparta, NJ 07871.
