Franklin Daniel “Dan” Chervenak, Sr., of Sparta, NJ, passed away on September 3. He was 87. Born and raised in Rockaway, Dan faithfully served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. After he was discharged, he joined the local carpenters union where he played an instrumental part in the construction of a new wing on what was the Del Mar Nursing Home, having no idea how that experience would help shape his carreer. As time went by, Dan further honed his skill by apprenticing under a master carpenter, opening a kitchen remodel business, and ultimately, the company we now know as F.D. Chervenak, which is responsible for building award winning homes on and around Lake Mohawk.
Dan was the beloved husband of the late Mary T“Connie”(nee Condrack) and the loving father of “Dan”, Jr and the late Thomas. He also leaves behind his brother Paul (Gail), grandchildren Ryan, Kirsten and Stephanie, and 5 great grandchildren.
Dan was a proud veteran and honorary member of the Sparta Fire Department.
Visiting will be held Monday, Sept 13 from 4pm-7pm at Goble Funeral Home in Sparta. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 am Tuesday, September 14 at Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church in Sparta with interment immediately following in Sparta Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Donations in his memory may be made to Sparta VFW.
