

Jeanne Mary Spingarn, 85, of Sparta, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded in her final days by her loving family and friends at the House of the Good Shepherd in Hackettstown, NJ, on March 7, 2011. Jeanne was raised in Jersey City graduating from St. Michaels, Fordham University and Seton Hall. She spent vacations in Culvers Lake and Long Beach Island, and resided in Lake Mohawk for 45 years. Jeanne taught Social Studies at Stillwater School for 18 years. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years.
Jeanne was an active member of her community, cooking and delivering meals to the homebound, visiting the elderly, and tirelessly lobbying for and supporting her favorite causes. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Arthur Edward Spingarn. Jeanne is survived by her devoted children; David and his wife Caryn of Randolph, NJ; Laura Spingarn of Newton, NJ; and Judith Dykstra and her husband Ken of Fredon, NJ. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren; Stephen, Paul, and James Dykstra and Luke, Emily, and Chloe Spingarn, and by sisters Jane Wishbow and Bunny Daubner. Friends may call Friday, March 18th, 2011 from 2-4, 7-9pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871. A funeral mass will be held at 1:30pm Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 297 Sparta Ave., Sparta, NJ. Interment will follow at Sparta Cemetery.
