

Joseph W. Sandford, 84, of Stillwater, NJ, died peacefully at his home on September 29, 2011. Joseph was born in Harrison, NJ and lived in Charleston, SC, before moving back to Stillwater, NJ. He was a proud member of the US Navy during WWll having served in the Pacific Theatre. He was scheduled to be part of the 5th wave of the Normandy Invasion but was called to return. Joseph was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church where he was a past Lector and he was a member of Newton VFW, Post 5360. Joseph was a manager at New Jersey Bell in Cedar Knolls, NJ for 40 years. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Dolores and children Joanna and Joseph. Joseph is survived by his children; Stephen and his wife Jean, Timothy and his wife Rose, Daniel and his wife Fanny, Christopher, Patrick, and Mary Pierro and her husband Robert. He is also survived by his devoted grandchildren: Nicole, Christopher, Michael, ToniAnn, Timothy, John, Elizabeth, Joseph, Zachary, Garrett, Sydney and great grandson Ryan. Friends may call Sunday, October 2, 2011, from 2-4, 7-9pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am Monday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 203 Newton Swartswood Rd., Newton, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Newton.
