Leola B. Geddis

Leola B Geddis, 100 , a resident at Bristol Glen, Newton, N.J. and 268 N Street, Seaside Park, N.J.,died on April 12, 2012. Born in South Orange, the daughter of Arthur H. Becker and Clara Young Becker where she spent 60 years of her life. She was active in Our Lady of Sorrows Church and school functions as well as the South Orange Women’s Club, League of Women Voters and the Orange Memorial Hospital Guild. She was employed in the insurance field for 15 years and later on as a legal secretary for 12 years. In 1974 she and her husband , Joseph F Geddis, moved to Summit, N.J. and in 1980 to their life long summer home in Seaside Park. She was a member of St Catherine of Siena Rosary Society, Trade Winds Chapter of Deborah Hospital Foundation and the Seaside Park Yacht Club.

She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Joseph F Geddis in 2002, her brother Arthur Becker and her sister Marion Becker. Surviving are her two sons and daughter in laws, Clark and Judy Geddis of Aiken, SC, formerly Sparta, NJ.. and Glenn and Jean Geddis of Mandeville, La., four granddaughters, Colleen Geddis of Sparta, Kristin Geddis of Nashville,Tn. Michele McHale and her husband Brian of Covington, La and Heather Matula and her husband Trey of Mandeville, La: and four great granddaughters, Molly, Ellie and Sophie Mc Hale of Covington, La., Ciara Matula of Mandeville and a greatgrandson, Bryce Matula.

Viewing shall be at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Sparta, on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 10am followed by a funeral Mass at 11 AM. Interment shall follow at St. Theresa Cemetery, Summit, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Catholic Charities would be appreciated. The Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta is in charge of arrangements.
