

The Lord called Richard Redshaw home on December 8, 2016, at the age of 90, surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey; he enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 16, during WWll and was assigned to the Tank Landing Ship 994 European-Theater; it participated in the invasion of Southern France. In 1955 Richard moved to Sparta and graduated the New York School of Floristry. He and his wife Dolores owned and operated Redshaw’s Flower shop in Sparta for over 52 years. Richard had a love for flowers, gardens and nature. Richard believed in building community, he was past member of Sparta Kiwanis, past member and President of the Sparta Chamber of Commerce; he was a member of the Sussex County Florist Association and he won numerous Sussex County Business Awards and was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church. Sparta was his home and he was proud to be a Spartan. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years Dolores Lepore Redshaw; devoted father of Richard Redshaw and his wife Kim of Hopatcong; Debbie Azzolina and her husband Keith of Sparta and Dennis Redshaw and his wife Joann of Sparta; loving grandfather of RJ, Shelley, Sarah, Holly, Lindsey, and Doug; Great grandfather of Dominick, Madeline and Jacob. He is survived by his sister Mildred McHugh & brother Robert Redshaw. Richard is predeceased by his sisters: Jeanette Castimore and Bertha Roth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 art Our Lady of the Lake Church, 294 Sparta Ave, Sparta, NJ 07871.
