Robert J. Luby

Robert J. Luby, 88 of Sparta NJ (formerly of Brooklyn, NY), passed away on October 23 ,2015 at home. He was a proud member of the US Navy in WWll. Bob was a member of the Lake Mohawk Country Club and Parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Church for 45 years, moving there permanently in 1991. Bob had a career with the NYPD spanning 31 years, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1986. He was an active 3rd Degree member of Flatbush Council Knights of Columbus #497,where he served as president of the Board of Directors. Bob was an avid golfer and a member of the Wallkill Golf Club for 25 years, serving as president of the Board of Directors. Bob was the beloved husband of the late Janice E. Luby; cherished father of Robert Jr. (Mary),Daniel (Eileen), John (Donna) & Jeanmarie (Michael); and the best grandpa ever of Kathryn, Daniel (Caitlin), Robert, Christopher, Kristen, Valerie, Taryn & Thomas Luby, and Michael, Alyssa, & Brian Cranston. He is also survived by his sisters, Maureen McLaughlin & Kathy Storcks and many nieces & nephews. Friends may call Tuesday and Wednesday, 2-4, 7-9pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 294 Sparta Ave., Sparta, NJ. Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery.
