Vera J. Lally

Vera J. Lally, 92, of Sparta, NJ went home to the Lord surrounded by her loving family on July 31, 2010. Vera was born in Newark, NJ and summered at Lake Mohawk since 1943 and became a fulltime resident there in 1968. She was a lifelong member of Beta Sigma Phi, an international sorority involved in charity and community involvement; She was the first recording secretary of the Rainbow Girls in Essex County; she was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at the Incarnation Episcopal Church in E. Orange, NJ; she was a member of the theater clubs in Sparta and E. Orange and was a member of the Sparta and E. Orange Women’s clubs; member of the Sparta First Presbyterian Church since 1976 and she was a Girl Scout leader in E. Orange where she was also a den mother in the Cub Scouts. Vera is predeceased by her beloved husband Vincent J. Lally and her devoted granddaughter Rebecca Leigh Skorupka. She is survived by loving children: Carol Lupo and her husband George; Joan Conahay and her husband Gary; Nancy Skorupka and her husband George and Vincent J. Lally lll and his wife Kelly. Vera is also survived by her sister Dorothy Husted; loving cousin William Savage and grandchildren Jennifer and Amy Lupo, Kelly, Jessica (Peruyero) and Kerri Conahay, Matthew and Ryan Skorupka, Jaclynn, Ashley, Vincent 1V, Brittney, Garrett and Gavin Lally; great-grandchildren Kaleigh and Jonathan, great nieces Darby, Sara and Robin and their mother Barbara Kolb and many other great neices and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday, August 4th, 2010 from 2-4, 7-9pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871. A funeral service will be held at 11am Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church of Sparta, 32 Main St., Sparta. Vera will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery next to her husband.
