Alan was born on November 14, 1939, in Colfax, Washington to Clarence and Naomi (Cook) Morasch. He grew up farming in Spangle, Washington, where he developed his hard work ethic that lasted the rest of his life. After graduating Spangle High School in 1958 he joined the Navy and served four years in California. Upon returning home, he married the love of his life, Jerri Hagel, on September 22, 1962. They had three children Merri (Earnest) Tate and Lisa Morasch, both of Spokane, and Marci (Mike) Sontgerath of Pullman.
He worked at Kaiser and multiple oil companies and after retirement kept himself busy with his small engine repair hobby. He loved spending time with his family, camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, snowmobiling, and traveling. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his brother, James Morasch. He is survived by his three children; his sister Carol Grant; his grandchildren Michael (Melissa) Tate, Steven (Heather) Tate, Katharine Tate, Amber Archambeault, Joseph Sontgerath, and Alan Sontgerath; and his great-grandchildren Finnley, Avery, Eugene, and Rosemary Tate.
Viewing will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2023, from 4-8pm at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S Pines Rd, Spokane Valley, WA 99206. Celebration of life will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at 11am at Zion Lutheran Church, 8304 E Buckeye Ave, Millwood, WA 99212, with a reception to follow. Graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at 2pm at Pines Cemetery, 1402 S Pines Rd, Spokane Valley, WA 99206 Friends and family that would like to donate in Alan’s name can send donations to the Hospice of North Idaho, 2290 W Prairie Ave, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho 83815 to thank them for the loving care they provided to him.
