Arlene, I have been thing about you every day and more for at least two weeks and telling others how we met and that I miss you so much when ever I do something that we did, such as looking at the trees down town where you put little papers in the trees you wanted and didn't get.  Oh I do have thoughts of you at other times and look at your picture every time I wake up, because you are on the table right in front if me.  I miss you sooooooooooooooo much, but some day I will meet you  again and we can continue to do what we always did such as call each other and talk for hours.  I love you a lot.  But I do know you are with God and your parents and grandparents.  I can hardly wait, Mary Anne

This is Mary Anne Littlemore writing to Arlene.  Arlene, I miss you so much that  it hurts a lot. I remember all of our fun times together in college when we met.  We clicked that first day when our parents met at the same time.  Those memories are so stuck in my head that I miss doing them.  Right now we could be visiting the decorated trees in Nordstroms (not sure if that is the name of the store) where we would vote that  certain tree was for you or me, and hoping we would win .  We would be down town reminising all of the old window displays when we were young, when we saw them with our own parents yearly.  I also am still waiting for a call from you each evening, so we could  go over our day.  Some day I will be right by your side and we can talk and talk as much as we want to.  I can't wait for that day to come.  You are a very special lady. So save me a place close to you.  Love you.  Your friend Mary  Anne

Arlene was like the sister that I never  had.  She was always there for me, both day and night, especially while we roomed together for three years of our college living. We would laugh, cry,  and study together. After college, we would share our teaching skills and experiences, and still laugh.  The first time, I became a grandma, I called long distance to England, at an odd time, and very expensive, to let Arlene be the first one to know, that it was a boy. After retirement, we were still committed to each, other as close friends or again sisters. Nightly, we would call each other and go over our daily activities.  Like, I said before, Arlene was the sister that I never had.  I miss her terribly, and quite often I pick up the phone to tell her something silly, such as "it's snowing", or "the trees are really blowing".  Arlene, we will see each other again, and continue our sisterly love.  Mary Anne

I taught with Arlene in England and we lived in same village, Moulton.  One Easter we drove together to the Loire Valley and Alsace.  It was a beautiful trip.  She was a lovely, kind person.


Arlene was a dear friend of 63 years.  Arlene and I became friends when we were in college, majoring in Education,  and lived across-the-hall as roomies in Louise Anderson Hall at  EWSC, now known as EWU.  Our friendship continued, even when she went over-seas to teach.  In the summer, we met for our annual luncheon in a Spokane dinery of mutual choice, with our friend, Mary Anne,  except this past summer due to C-19.  Arlene was 
generous and  compassionate; her home always open for guests .  She always welcomed my husband Oscar, and me for special gatherings. We had many good laughs together!  Kudos to Arlene.

We have known Arlene since 1957, and have become very special friends calling each other nightly, just like sisters would do.  She was my go to friend when I needed to vent.  Up to her last day, we had had our last conversation.  Arlene will be missed forever, and even now, I want to pick up my phone and call her.  Jerry and Mary Anne Littlemore

My husband and I moved to Liberty Lake from Bellevue, WA. in 2007and I joined the Liberty Lake Athletic Club soon after.  Arlene and her best friend, Rita, were the first ones to welcome and 
 include me in the Water Exercise group.  Arlene was such a sweet friend, kindly listening to all my stories while sharing coffee after class.   Over the years we cemented friendship with Red Hats and travel down the Mississippi River in the fall of 2018 after my husband's death.  I miss her ready smile, friendship, thoughtfulness and many  kindnesses.
