The son of Floyd and Helen (Walker) Bucher, Barry was born in Spokane and was the oldest of six children Claudia, Paul (Kirsten), Judy (Keith) Veselits, Jennifer (Rob) MacKay and Michael (Carmen). Barry and his siblings were fortunate to grow up on 12th street in the Spokane Valley. Barry and his siblings enjoyed the outdoors and spent their summers swimming in lakes and rivers and fly fishing in creeks. Barry graduated from Central Valley in 1964.
Barry and Vickie Guindon were married for 22 years and together they also raised their three children: Bryan (Lori), Scott (Shannon) and Danielle (Brian) Miller on 12th street. As a young family they enjoyed summer camping trips to Priest Lake. Barry taught his sons the art of restoring antique vehicles and he could fix almost anything. His shop was the first stop for anyone needing car repair. He had many other interests including boating, fly fishing, gardening and canning tomatoes and salsa.
Barry was hired by Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) in 1970. Promoted to Driver, then Lieutenant and worked as the mechanic for SVFD the last nine years of his career. He retired in October, 2000.
In 1974 Barry started his business Inland Fire Pump. His mobile fire apparatus maintenance and repair business serviced fire departments across the Pacific Northwest.
Barry had six grandchildren Raylynn, Gage, Tyler (Sammy), Sidney, Trenton and Sienna and one great grandchild Ellie.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Helen and siblings Judy, Jennifer, and Michael.
