Charles “Ray” Shinkle, 84, of Spokane Valley, Washington, passed away peacefully on August
5, 2025.
Ray was born on January 25, 1941, in Cottonwood, Idaho. He graduated from Idaho State
University with a degree in Printing and worked for many years as a printer for Rocky Mountain
Bank Note.
In April 1965, Ray married Audrey Welch, and the couple had four children together. His
hobbies included bowling, stained glass work, leather work, and gambling. He also enjoyed old
western movies, spending time with his beloved dogs, and showing goats at the county fair.
Ray will be remembered by family and friends as a friendly jokester and a stubborn old goat,
always bringing humor and heart to those around him. He was fluent in American Sign
Language and often served as an interpreter in his community.
He is survived by his children: Jerry (Alecia), Andra (Mike), Mary (Ron), and Joe (Karissa); 18
grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his
brother.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and respiratory therapists at Sacred
Heart Hospital for their dedicated care.
