Ding was born on July 24, 1924, in Great Falls, MT to Gladys M. Allgood (Taylor) and Clarence O. Allgood. She grew up on a sheep ranch in Geraldine, MT, where she learned to love the outdoors. The family moved to Opportunity, WA in 1938. Ding became one of the first female Marines, serving in the Corps from 1949 to 1955. After her discharge, she went to school in Santa Barbara, CA, to become a professional photographer. She then moved back to Spokane where she worked for Leo's Photography Studio and later Olympic Color Lab until her retirement.
Ding enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Hobnailer's Hiking Club which allowed her to enjoy many years of hiking and camping trips. Conservation and recycling were important to her before it became the way of life for the rest of the world.
Ding is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Joel Ruth; her brother, Oren Allgood; and her best friend, Helen Lininger.
