

BURMA, Eva Irene, 89, passed away on May 21, 2011 in Spokane, WA and was born in Davenport, WA. She is survived by her two children, Susan L. Walker and L. Scott Burma (Erin) all of Spokane; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Harm “Hy” Burma in 1998. Eva graduated Albion High School in 1940 and Deaconess Nursing School in 1943 as a Registered Nurse and became a Certified Industrial Nurse, later in her career. She served in the U.S. Army Nurses Corp from 1944 to 1946 in Saipan and as a private Duty Nurse for many years. She worked at the U.S. Postal Annex in Spokane from 1967 to 1979, as an Industrial Nurse. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Women’s Organization and Spokane Valley United Methodist Church. She was a member of the DAV and American Legion Post No. 9 and her name is listed on the Women Veteran’s Memorial in Washington D.C. She married Harm “Hy” Burma on May 31, 1948 in Spokane. After retiring she and her husband traveled in their 5th Wheel across the United States of America, Canada and Alaska. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd, Spokane Valley, WA with funeral services being held on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Thornhill Valley Chapel with Pastor Mike Graef officiating. Private interment will be at Riverside Memorial Park, Spokane.
