Our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully, on June 20, 2012 at Valley Hospital in Spokane Valley, WA after a brave battle with cancer. Fay is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 41 years, Fred Valentine, her sons and daughters-in-law Jason and Elise Valentine, Jeremy and Seana Valentine, and Justin and Megan Valentine and her daughter and son-in-law Kara and Nick Woodard. She is survived by her 13 beloved and treasured grandchildren, Natasha, Brooke, Troy, Vynessa, Molly, Luke, Dylan, Logan, Ryan, Hailey, Emma, Jackson and Colson. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Court and Lauri Roskamp of Spokane Valley and her nieces and nephews. Fay was preceded in death by her father Henry Roskamp in 1987 and her mother Florence Roskamp in 2001.
Fay was born on August 18, 1950 to Florence (Sisco) and Henry Roskamp in Santa Ana, CA. She attended Santa Ana High School and graduated in 1968. She then attended Life Bible College, majored in music and worked at the telephone company and as a legal secretary. In 1971, Fay married the love of her life, Fred Valentine, and they made their home in Anaheim, CA and welcomed their four children. They moved to Spokane in 1981, where Fay worked as a paralegal for 30 years, helping those injured while on-the-job. Fay enjoyed raising her family in the Northwest, boating on the lakes, gardening, camping, bike riding, and traveling. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, reading, exercising, bike riding, shooting, looking for antiques and loved exercising at Zumba classes and with her Curves ladies. She treasured her wonderful friends, being active in her local church and becoming an asset to her community by helping others and volunteering. She was a woman of great faith, gracious and giving, devoted to prayer and service to others. Her love for her family and friends ran deep and she welcomed all to her home where her door was always open. Her greatest passion and joy was her family.
Fay has left a rich legacy in too short time - she was a "mom" to many besides her four children, sharing her life and home with them, helping everyone she knew and remaining a positive, kind, selfless and humble person with an adventurous spirit throughout her life. She always remembered important events with a call of encouragement, cards, gifts or flowers. Fay endlessly made her loved ones lives better, more meaningful and every occasion more special. Even when faced with a terminal illness she chose to fight, remain strong and positive until the end. She handled dying with the same grace and dignity in which she lived her life. She has left the greatest example of life well-lived for all who knew her. We celebrate her life in the way she lived - with goodness, joy, and gratefulness. We need to thank God for giving Fay to us and we are all thankful for the time we spent with her.
