

George Allen Skidmore, 82, of Otis Orchards, Washington was born October 8, 1940, in Logan, Cache County, Utah, to Ruth May Allen Skidmore and William Wallace Skidmore. He passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2023.
George grew up in Logan, Utah graduating from Logan High School in 1958 where he participated in football, baseball, drama, rifle team, and was an ROTC commander. He was the oldest of five children. He married DeeAnne Christensen in the Idaho Falls temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 22, 1967. They were married 56 years, had six children (all boys), and fifteen grandchildren.
George served in the United States Army achieving the rank of Captain and serving as an helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War. He participated in ROTC and served in the National Guard.
George earned a bachelor’s degree from Utah State University in Logan and a master’s degree from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California with study in Electrical Engineering. He worked the majority of his career at Hewlett Packard and Agilent, first in Palo Alto and then in Liberty Lake, Washington near Spokane.
George was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings throughout his life including: Scout Master, Elders Quorum President, Bishop, Single Adult Advisor, Sunday School Teacher, and Missionary. He was bishop of the Spokane 17th Ward and broke ground on the Liberty Lake Chapel. He served a full-time mission in France as a youth (1960 to 1963) and again, with his wife DeeAnne after retirement (2006 to 2007).
George enjoyed gardening, woodworking, coaching soccer and baseball, and boy scouting both as a youth and as an adult leader. George sang in the choir, played the trombone and guitar, and conducted music for the church congregation. He performed in Oklahoma as a youth, and in My Fair Lady as an adult. He served as President of the Spokane Valley Junior Soccer Association and was instrumental in establishing the youth soccer complex Plants Ferry Park in Spokane Valley, WA.
George is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Steven Bradley Skidmore. He is survived by his wife, DeeAnne Christensen Skidmore, his brother William “Snick” Skidmore of Sun City, AZ and sisters Marie England of Logan, UT, Winnie May Burton of Arlington, VA, and Linda Daines of New York, NY; and five sons, Dr. Allen Royal Skidmore (Shannan) of Spokane, WA, Dr. George Dee Skidmore of Santa Barbara, CA, Richard Wynn Skidmore (Jill) of Park City, UT, Michael William Skidmore (Jennie) of Seattle, WA, and Christopher David Skidmore (Amanda) of Spokane WA, and fifteen grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 11 at 9am at the Liberty Lake Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 23515 E Boone Ave, Liberty Lake, WA. There will be a viewing at Thornhill Valley Chapel at 1400 S. Pines Road, Spokane Valley, WA on Friday March 10 from 5pm until 8pm.
