

BEHM, Ivah Jane (Age 84) Ivah Jane Behm, of Spokane Valley, WA passed away October 22,2015 in Spokane Valley. She was born Ivah Jane Florence in Union, North Dakota on October 9,1931. She moved with her parents and sister to Seattle, WA. Her father Herbert Florence, found work there as a carpenter in the early forties. She met Richard (Dick) Behm Jr., the love of her life, while attending Roosevelt High School in Seattle. They married in 1951.
After Richard served the U.S. Navy in the Korean conflict, they moved to Spokane and helped Richard Behm Sr. and his wife Sally with the operation of Behm's Valley Creamery, in Spokane Valley. In the 1970's Ivah and Dick purchased the Creamery, and continued it's operation until 2011. A 60 year business legacy in the Spokane Valley.
Ivah was always involved in her church and was a woman of strong faith. She and Dick were members of the Western Dance association for many years. Ivah was a leader in both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was also a founding member of the University High School band parents association, and accompanied the band to the National Championships in 1980. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and was excellent at cooking and baking. She also loved walking in Spokane's Bloomsday race each year.
She was married to Dick for 60 years before his passing in 2011. She is survived by the three children that she loved so much, Karen
Behm-Bush and her husband Dave, Kenneth Behm and his wife Karen, also Robert Behm and his wife Shannon. She also has 3 grandsons, Kristopher, Daniel and Cameron. Two great grandchildren, Callista and Wyatt.
Services to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, October 29,2015 at 1:00 pm at Hope Lutheran Church (Broadway and Long), a committal service will follow at 4:00 pm at Pines Cemetery.
