Jay was raised in Spokane Valley and he was a gentle giant—a man known just as much for his towering presence as he was for his big laugh and even bigger heart. He was a graduate and former football player for Montana State University. He went on to work as a Mechanical Engineer until recently retiring 2 years ago, allowing him to spend his days doing what he loved most.
Jay could be found bowling each Wednesday with his league, golfing during the days with buddies, or hunting out in Idaho. When he wasn't on the greens or in the woods, he was passionately cheering on his favorite team, the Steelers. Above all his hobbies, his greatest joy was his family. He was a deeply loving father and a loyal friend to many.
He is survived by his two children: Son, Jeremy Jackman; Daughter, Jennifer Scott; his three cherished grandchildren; and his sister Lisa.
A celebration of Jay's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 12th at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home (1306 N Pines Rd, Spokane Valley, WA 99206).
Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a further celebration of his life at the Monkey Bar (located at 10605 E Sprague Ave, Spokane Valley, WA 99206)."
