Jefferson Alan Simmons, age 68, of Spokane, WA went to be with his Lord and Savior after a four year battle with cancer. Born to Paul and Doris Simmons November 1953 in San Diego CA Jeff would say he was an Airforce brat. He moved around the country, including Spain with his parents and siblings until the family settled in Spokane in 1968. Jeff served four years in the Army as a combat engineer in Hawaii, which brought him great joy. After coming home to Spokane from the service, Jeff earned a degree in electronics from SCC. He spent the first part of his career running his own electrical and HVAC business. He worked for Gonzaga University as a boiler technician, then moved to working for various industrial laundry companies before retiring from Fairchild AFB. He tended to the boilers and especially enjoyed playing daily games of cribbage with his colleagues. Jeff enjoyed hunting, fishing, and music, especially playing guitar with his brothers. Jeff was a people person. When he met someone, they would also learn about Jesus. Whether by his words or actions, he was always thinking of and helping others. He was very generous and took care of others before himself. His quick wit and humor will be remembered by many. Jeff was a prayer warrior. He prayed daily for his family, friends and those God brought to him along life’s travels. His family and grandchildren were the light of his life, especially when celebrating the annual Fourth of July Simmons BBQ and Croquet Tournament. Everyone played for those coveted trophies! Jeff was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Doris Simmons and is survived by his wife Julia, three sons, Zachary, Justin (Jen), Dallas (Stephanie), Julia’s daughters, Korissa (Jeff), Melissa (Blake), siblings Judy (Richard), Ron (Linda), Becky (Judd), Sam (Anne), Tim (Dorthy) and 13 grandchildren. A celebration to honor Jeff’s life will be held 1:00 June 4, at North Country Chapel 2281 W. Seltice Way , Post Falls, ID. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Union Gospel Mission or Compassion International. Jeff will be greatly missed.
