Schuller, John Edward – Age 86 – was born on February 26, 1930 at Uniontown PA to Leon and Maria Schuller (Laucher, Baardse, Treadway). He went to be with the Lord on January 3, 2017 at Spokane Valley, WA after suffering for years with Parkinson’s disease. He was raised in Washington DC and told many entertaining stories of his and his younger brother’s antics growing up in our nation’s capital. John was a great story teller until his disease took away that ability.
John joined the Army at a young age to financially help support his Mother and siblings. He served for 26 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He earned several awards for his service, including a Bronze Star for “Meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces” in Vietnam. After John’s marriage to Barbara (Arkills, Stevenson) they travelled, worked and enjoyed living in many places in the U.S. and overseas. When they retired they settled in Spokane, WA. They were active members of the Spokane valley United Methodist Church.
In addition to Barbara, John is survived by a son, three daughters, a step son and two step daughters. He also has a granddaughter and a grandson. A service celebrating John’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd. with Pastor Mike Graef officiation. Interment will be at Pines Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Spokane Valley United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
