A 1969 Lewis and Clark High School graduate, Judi met the love of her life Greg during her senior year. They would be married on March 14th, 1970 while he was on military leave from Korea, spending 53 wonderful years together. Feeling a desire to raise a family with her new husband, in 1973 they would move to Deer Park, Washington, settling into a new life on the “Farm”.
Judi provided an amazing environment for her family. A loving home, church on Sunday, foundation of faith home cooked meals, and plenty of teaching were part of everyday life. The Farm was a perfect place to create this environment, and she did. She adored the animals (most of the time), loved to bake, dabbled in wool spinning, and looked forward to the huge garden with “canning fests” every year. Family and friends that visited to help work or play would always be greeted with her warm smile and something to eat. From steadfast support to Greg on the Farm, to wrangling three children, to caretaker of her parents as they aged, Judi was there.
Because raising three kids, supporting a husband, helping at the church, and managing the farm was not enough, Judi took a job at the Deer Park branch of Washington Trust Bank in 1984. Judi loved working at the Bank. Starting out as a teller in Deer Park she was soon promoted to the Vault Manager in the Downtown Spokane Branch. Continuing her career, she settled back closer to home working at Deer Park Auto Licensing and then with Chris at his company before retiring with Greg in 1999.
Starting in 1997 the grandchildren started to arrive. Every grandchild had a special place in Judi’s heart. She loved to bake cookies for them, always had a witty comment for them, injected the love of Jesus in their lives, taught Victoria and Allison how to drive, helped dropped off and picked up from school, and was at every event possible that the grandkids were involved in.
Judi was a woman of faith and a believer in the Lord, Jesus Christ. As she raised her family, making sure her kids were in Sunday school and the family was in Church every Sunday was a priority for her. Judi would spend days at the Church doing various tasks, teaching Sunday school, assisting with administrative duties and always on the prayer chain for those in need. Further, volunteered at the Union Gospel Mission and made sure the family attend the Billy Graham Crusades. More recently, you would find her attending church with Greg and participating in Bible study with friends.
Judi was grateful to everyone and for every day on this earth. Though you have now made your journey to be with the Lord in heaven, you will be missed by many on this earth. A celebration of Judi’s life will be held at Indian Trail Church on Saturday September 30th @ 12:30 PM; a reception will follow. The family asks that in lieu of flowers you consider extending a gift to the Union Gospel Mission in her name.
