Kathryn Elizabeth Reeve
Our most beloved Kathyrn Elizabeth Reeve left this world for a much better place on August 11, when her big heart loved itself out. She was 62 years old.
Kathy was born in Rochester Minnesota on October 19, 1961 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was a huge gift to her mother Glendle who thought that she might never conceive again. What a joy she was to her family! Many cousins surrounded her with love. There were all of the Burke’s, Reeve’s, Schultz’, Schmid’s’, and Kesselring families. There were also neighbors and family friends who adored her. Kathy began her days in Rochester but moved to Spokane Washington in 1968. When she arrived, she was joined by her older brother Bill and 2 younger siblings, Ellen and Recca. As a little girl, Kathy was full of life and confidence. She loved animals. She had dogs, Fluffer, Cubby, Patches, Kinky and others. She had many cats, but Lion, was definitely her most favorite. She also had a best friend in her POA (Pony of America) Bambi. Kathy spent hours with her, trail riding in the hills, riding in the arena behind Chester Pool, and many “Play Days” or amateur riding shows. The neighborhood was full of wonderful friends, Connie Sieglock, Kathy Huntley, Sandy Wylie, and Trish were a few from her early days. Kathy’s best friend was Patti Tunison. Her family was best friends with ours. Kathy was a dear friend to so many in her school days too.
Kathy was a hard worker from a young age. She had a paper route, handed down from Bill. She was creative and curious. She did well in school. We’ll always remember her as a brave problem solver. She wasn’t afraid of electricity and figured out many things on her own. She fixed our Suburban on many occasions and taught us how to add “tranny” fluid to it to drive it. She was smart and caring from a young age too. She also wasn’t afraid of blood and guts. She was the University High School trainer for both the wrestling and gymnastics.
Kathy began Eastern Washington University to pursue that dream but quickly fell in love with Romero Vivit. They were married. She later divorced Romero and began a relationship with Perry Archer. During Kathy and Perry’s time together, she had 2 precious children, Kate and Nash. They were the love of her life.
During these years, Kathy worked at FedEx. She began as a courier and later finished her career as a dispatch, working out at the airport offices. Kathy was an exceptional problem solver. She helped the hub run efficiently by organizing better routes, finding boxes, and encouraging drivers. She spent more than 30 years of her life there.
Kathy loved to hunt gems and rocks, she was a talented artist, and she loved growing things. She loved her dogs. She and Chad had an amazing pond. It could be in a magazine. She loved connecting with people. She loved pouring out herself to ease their burdens and meet their needs. There are so many stories about how Kathy has helped others. It was a part of her fiber. She was humble and met people where they were at. She had a way of connecting with people and making them feel at ease. We will never know how many people she touched in her life. Kathy is survived by her mom, Glendle, and siblings, Bill (Angela, Becca, Christian, Jeremiah, Chloe, & Peter), Ellen, (Dan, Meagan, & Aaron) & Recca (Dave, Justin, Coty, & Nick). She was a part of all their kids lives too. Her dad passed in 1974.
Kathy’s children, Kate and Nash, have families of their own. Kathy fiercely loved them and her most precious grandchildren. She was “Nini” to them; Kasen, Talon, Gryphon, Bentley, plus more…
Kathy loved others and was so kind. She had an infectious laugh. Kathy would help you with anything. She was extremely generous. A million dollars wouldn’t even be enough to give away to help.
Even toward the end of her life with Chad, they both were working on turning their basement into a sanctuary for hurting people. She wanted to love others well.
During this process of grieving, we all at one point or another, wanted to ask her for help with…
Rest well Sweet Kathy, you gave your all for others, now it’s your turn to be loved on!!
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be help in the near future. I love what Kate and Nash said, “We want to do her proud, and that takes time.” Stay in touch for upcoming details.
