

Robert Kenneth (Bob) Battles, passed away May 6th at the age of 90. Born in Spokane, WA, Bob was the second son of Albert and Mary Battles. Work was second nature to Bob as he grew up on his family’s 10-acre farm in Parkwater, and later when he worked for East Trent Cabinet Works and Glen Green Millwork. Bob served honorably in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Bob married Connie Anderson at Hope Lutheran Church in Veradale, and together they raised three children. Friends and family benefitted from Bob’s knowledge and skill in woodworking and many other areas. He was active at Hope Lutheran Church, serving as Elder and on many of the church’s boards during his 57 years of membership. Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, daughters Nancy (Dennis) Dunham, Eva (John) Weisenburger, son Brian Battles; grandchildren Sheila (John) Savoie, Chad (Rochelle) Dunham, Lori (Richard) Stokes, Lisa (Scott) Jones, Catherine Weisenburger (fiancé Nick Linton), Mary Weisenburger; great grandchildren Trysten Savoie, Madison Savoie, Hannah Savoie, Brayden Savoie, Christopher Dunham, Minna Dunham, Dennis Stokes, Harrison Stokes, Norah Stokes, and Kaitlyn Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Marvin and Willis Battles, and sister, Mildred Brown. In Bob’s final days he was cared for by the angels at Hospice House South. The family is very grateful for their compassionate, loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Spokane in Bob’s memory.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 15th from 3-5pm at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Road. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 16th at 9:00am at St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Trent Ave. A memorial service will follow at 10:30am at Hope Lutheran Church, 17909 E Broadway Ave, Spokane Valley, WA 99016.
