Ruth Erna Wallender

Ruth Wallender, age 96, of Spokane Washington, passed away on Tuesday, May 16th 2023. Ruth was born in 1927 in Zap North Dakota. The daughter of a coal miner and farmer, Ruth was no stranger to hard work and that work ethic stayed with her throughout her life. Ruth married her husband Oscar of 72 years in June of 1947 and relocated to Spokane in 1956. Ruth owned an upholstery business for several years, working on numerous projects such as the Patsy Clark Mansion, the Ridpath hotel and the Fox Theatre. She enjoyed the many relationships with her customers throughout the years and always greeted them with a cup of coffee and a smile. Ruth loved her family and her friends and enjoyed visiting and spending time with them.

Ruth is survived by her sister Virginia, four grandsons, Tyrel Wallender, Crist Fouts, Matthew Fouts, Daniel Fouts,one great grandson,several great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Oscar, sons Raymond and Randy, her sister Laverne and her mother and father Raymond and Rosalia.

Services will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Friday, May 26th at Hazen and Jaeger Valley funeral home, 1306 North Pines Road, Spokane, WA. 99206. Visitation will be held at Hazen and Jaeger May 25th from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm and a Graveside the following week at Spokane Memorial Gardens on June 1st at 2:30PM.
