Thomas Alva Saul went home to be with the LORD April 29, 2026. He was born on February 28th, 1942, in Sacramento CA, to Alva and Helen Saul. Tom graduated from high school and completed 2 years of college. He then entered the US Army, was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, where he was honorably discharged February 2, 1965. He then pursued a 35-year career as a steel pipe salesman, which took him to Spokane in 1975. This is where he met his wife, Kay, sharing a marriage that would last for 49 years, 4 months. Tom enjoyed many past times over the years - he was avidly into weightlifting, music and golf.
“Papa Tom”, as he was known to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, took a constant delight in all of them. Tom was a member of the Bible Baptist Church here in Spokane, humbly serving as a Trustee for several years.
Tom is survived by his wife Kay, son David (Rhonda), son Brad (Debra), stepson Gary, stepson Darin (Mary) and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
When we gather (at a future date) to celebrate the life of Tom please remember his laughter, his innate gentleness and his love of solitude.
He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations in Tom’s honor be made to local animal shelters reflecting his compassion for animals.
Arrangements for his interment are being made by Thornhill Valley Chapel.
