

Age 82, passed on and went to his eternal home on July 9, 2025, after a 13-month battle with pulmonary fibrosis. His loving family was by his side.
Tom was born on June 4, 1943, to James and Ann Towey. He was the middle child of 7. He joined the Navy in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1964.
For the next 34 years he worked for Rosauers in varying capacities, including management. Upon his retirement, he became involved in the community, as a city commissioner, a councilman, and served two terms as the Spokane Valley mayor. He volunteered with the Sheriff's Office for 6 years and Scope from 1996 to 2025. He also volunteered at Newbyginnings and SCRAPS.
Tom had a passion for running, golf, reading, and his family. He ran 50 marathons. He and his granddaughter, Allison ran many races together including races in Hawaii and Ireland. He loved visiting the St. Joe River and spending time at the cabin he built with his brother-in-law, Jim.
Tom was a very generous and kind man to all who met him. He loved to paint and make angels. During the last six years, he made and gave away 618 angels. He loved to make people smile. He loved animals and couldn't walk by a dog without petting it.
He is survived by his spouse of 59 years, Karen; children, Melissa Fryer and William Towey; granddaughters, Allison, Bailey, and Avery and great grandsons, Weston and Theo.
A Celebration of life will be held at CenterPlace event center on August 15th, 2025, at 3:30 pm. Please wear blue, his favorite color.
In lieu of flowers, please make donation in his name to Inland Empire Golden Retriever Rescue or Pulmonary fibrosis foundation.
The family wishes to express appreciation to the hospice workers at Horizon Hospice who worked with Dad in his final days.
