Tommie was born September 29, 1928 in Spokane to Stanley and Fay Thompson. Her early childhood years were spent in Yakima. After her family returned to Spokane, she attended North Central High School where she met her future husband, Harold. They were married June 19, 1948 and spent 53 loving years together prior to his passing in early 2002. Being a cancer survivor herself, it seemed fitting that she served as executive secretary for the American Cancer Society for 15 years before retiring in 1992.
Tommie was a gifted party planner and decorator. She was cherished for the beauty and joy she brought to so many of her family and friends milestone celebrations. We will all dearly miss her.
Tommie is survived by her five children; Jerry and Cindy Johnson of Nine Mile Falls, Cathy and John Gomez of Spokane, Debra and Alan Kent of Silverdale, David Johnson of Spokane, Michael and Lisa Johnson of Spokane. As well as her seven grandchildren; Justin, Jodi, Jason, Laci, Jessica, Melissa, Travis, and seven great grandchildren; Garrett, Jamie, Jenna, Taylor, Wyatt, Reese, and Preston.
A Celebration of Life will be hosted by her family at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the American Cancer Society in Tommie’s honor
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.BallandDodd.com for the Johnson family.
