Born November 14, 1924 in Phoenix, AZ to James and Beulah McCrary; died in Lewiston December 21, 2016 at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harold and Richard; and her husband William “Bill” Seideman.
In her teens, Annett and her mother moved to Los Angeles, where she attended a private school, Culter Academy. While in her last two years of high school, she became the principal organist for a large downtown church. Part of that privilege involved signing a contract that required her to spend two hours a day in practice, but was also able to train under a professional organist. This was the beginning of her love of music, both producing and sharing this love in teaching dozens of students over a period of some 60 years. If she wasn’t performing or accompanying some group on the piano or organ, she was participating in vocal events as she had a lovely voice.
After high school, Annett attended and graduated from Westmont College, then located in Los Angeles. During her college career, she had occasion to meet some notable society people, including the wife of Merrill Lynch partner, Mrs. Fenner, and the widow of the canning jar company founder, Mrs. Kerr. She was employed by both to assist in housekeeping chores. During her high school and college days she participated in many sports, including basketball.
Being a committed Christian, Annett decided to take a year to study the Bible and did so at Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland, Oregon, where she took a one-year graduate study program. While there, she met the man that would become her husband, William “Bill” Seideman. They married in Portland in June of 1951.
After Annett and Bill were married, a railroading career prompted a number of moves around the Northwest. Eventually, Annett and Bill landed in Kellogg, ID in 1953. During the 30+ years that Annett and Bill lived in the Silver Valley, Annett took in piano students, whom she lovingly taught the fundamentals and finer points of music performance. The love of teaching followed her into retirement years, including 10 years in the Phoenix area before returning to the Northwest. She leaves a host of music students in all of these locations.
In her later years, she and Bill lived near Culdesac, ID. Eventually poor health required her to move to a care facility in Lewiston, where she passed in the early morning hours of December 21, 2016.
During the time that Annett and Bill lived in the Kellogg area, they were moved to adopt, over a period of several years, five children. This included Alyce (Keith), Harold, Norman, Gina, and Joseph, the latter three all being of Native American heritage. She is survived by all of her adopted family plus her step-son, Wesley, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A simple graveside service with family members able to attend was held on January 3, 2017 in Spokane. A memorial service will be held on March 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist, 2200 11th Ave, Lewiston, ID for friends and family members to share their stories of a very talented and dedicated Christian lady. For those would like to make a memorial gift, funds can be sent to Westmont College, 955 La Paz Rd, Santa Barbara CA 93108, to be used for their music department.
Arrangements under the direction of Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, Spokane, WA.
