Bruce Conant Wright (89), beloved husband, father, and great-grandfather, was called to the Lord on the eve of Thanksgiving 2023. Better known as Bup or Brucie, he left this world peacefully with family by his side. He is predeceased by his parents Helen and Charles, siblings Connie, Charles (Sumner), John, and brother-in-law Leonard. We take comfort in knowing they greeted him on his mother’s favorite holiday.
Bruce was born on the 13th of February 1934 to Helen Conant Wright and Charles Wright Sr. He lived in Keene, New Hampshire. After graduation from Keene High School, he joined the Navy and served from 1952-1956 as a torpedo man. One of his proudest accomplishments was his service to his country. When he returned from the Navy, he married the love of his life Dolly Stalbird. Bruce and Dolly settled in Bruce’s hometown, where they raised a family, surrounded by many loved ones and great neighbors. Bruce worked for Vermont Printing Press in Brattleboro, Vermont before starting his own business, Wright’s Wallpapering and Painting. In 2004, they retired to Murrells Inlet, SC. where Bruce played in various golf leagues and spent his time making fond memories with his “Winter Group''. This past Spring, Bruce and Dolly relocated to Spokane, WA to be closer to family. They resided at South Hill Village Assisted Living where he spent his final months enjoying activities with family and the caring staff.
Bruce was a lover of music, which he shared with the world through his playing of the harmonica and by singing in the choir at the Belin Memorial Church. His hobbies included fishing at the family lake house on Granite Lake and Colorado, golfing, woodworking, and cheering on the Boston Sports teams he loved so much.
Bruce is survived by his wife Dolly of 66 years, his daughter Leslie Wdowiak, Gary Wdowiak, daughter Cheri Williams and husband Randy, granddaughters Nicole, Danielle and her husband Jon, step-grandson Andrew and his wife Tasha, as well as six great-grandchildren Reagan, Autumn, Frank, Fred, Weston, and Aubrey. Also surviving him are his siblings William and his wife Diana, Peter and his wife Muffett, sisters-in-law Loretta and Jane, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who loved him dearly.
Bruce will be remembered for his jokester personality, the twinkle in his eye, grand smile, and sarcastic wit that filled everyone’s hearts with laughter and joy.
A Celebration of life will be held in the Spring/Summer 2024 in a local park with military honors.
