Catherine is survived by her children, Clint Hill of Spokane Valley, WA, Terry Hill of Spokane, WA, Randy Hill of Spokane, WA and Judith Leach of Overland Park, KS; her seven grandchildren; and her twelve great-grandchildren and her brother, Stuart MacPhail of Denver, CO. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Hill; her grandson, Collin Leach; her parents, Donald and Katherine MacPhail all of Spokane, WA and her great-granddaughter, Allison Romero.
Catherine was born on May 7, 1927 in Duluth, MN, where she graduated from high school and the Glenwood Hills Hospital nursing school, 1946. She married Wallace Hill in 1947 and the pair moved to Spokane, WA, where they started a family. Over fourteen years, the couple welcomed four children into their home and Catherine set about teaching them hard work, determination and civic responsibility that would forge their lives. Her children remember her as an energetic, gregarious, humorous woman and a patient mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Catherine took her civic responsibilities seriously as she served as an adult leader in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, a school PTA member, a precinct committee chairperson (48 years), a teaching assistant at an elementary school, an Eastern Star member, a Hillyard Senior Center volunteer, a Fraternal Order of Eagles member, a member of ORC&B (railroad union) auxiliary, and a member of the Spokane Railway Credit Union (Numerica CU) Supervisory Committee. She was an active and dedicated member of Trinity Baptist Church for many years.
Catherine passed away peacefully after a short illness.
