Thoemke, Darold E. (Age 60) Of Spokane, Washington passed away peacefully at his mother’s home in Deer Park, Washington on January 8, 2011. He was born August 29, 1950 in West Palm Beach, Florida to Alfred W. and Dorothy D. (Mills) Thoemke. Darold served in the U.S. Army for 12 years. He was a Vietnam veteran with two tours of duty, and proud member of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, “the Black Horse Regiment.” He was a life member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars and the 11th Armored Cavalry’s Veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia. After his military service he worked for the Spokane Transit Authority as a Para-transit driver. Darold is survived by his mother Dorothy of Deer Park; brothers Robert of Deer Park and William of Spokane; the love of his life, Janet Eickerman of Spokane; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Darold’s life will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the SS Beryl Restaurant, 6404 N Wall, Spokane, Washington 99208. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to American Heart Association or SCRAPS.
