Age 75
Dennis Alfred Bergman, 75 of Spokane, WA left this earth Sunday, October 15, 2017 at his home.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA.
Dennis was born to Helen and Alfred Bergman, March 11, 1942 in Wausau, WI. He lived in Athens, WI working with his family on their dairy farm most of his youth. “Denny” joined the National Guard in 1960 and then transferred to the Army in 1962, serving for three years. The Army took “Pinky” to Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, WA where he met his wife Nola McMaster, a.k.a. “Tootie”. Denny and Tootie were married in Spokane in 1965. Dennis is survived by his wife Tootie Bergman of Spokane, his daughters, Sherri Stroh and Tara Fechser both of Spokane. “Pinky” is also survived by his brother Dick Bergman of Marathon, WI and numerous nieces and nephews.
One of “Dewey’s” bright spots was his grandsons Kobe Stroh and Jackson Fechser. Grandpa taught them to shoot a .22, whittle a mean stick, survive in the woods, and much, much more.
Dennis worked in construction and drywall for most of his adult life. He had many interests such as Corvettes, Harley Davidsons, boating, and most of all, snowmobiling. Actually, “Denny” loved anything that had a lot of power and went very, very fast. He was talented at furniture making and could basically fix anything.
It gives us great relief that “Denny” is no longer suffering. He simply decided it was time to move on to see his loved ones that preceded him in death. His Mom and Dad, and brothers Davey, Gary, and Tommy all met him with open arms.
He seemed to easily form a unique relationship with each person he came in contact with. “Papa Dewey” touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew him. Next time you need a shot, make it a Fireball and cheers to Denny!
