(Age 85)- Entered into rest on 22 Sept 2016. Betty Jean was born and raised in Butte, Montana, the daughter of immigrants Robert Weatherston of Galashiels, Scotland and Anna O’Donovan of Croumhane County Cork, Ireland. After graduating from Girls Catholic Central HS, she worked briefly for Montana Power as a secretary. On 1 June 1949 the “big city girl” married then-rancher James G. Brewer of Ringling, Montana. With at least 16 moves, they raised their family of nine children living variously in Ringling, Butte, Helena, Opportunity, and Canyon Ferry before moving to Spokane, Washington in 1968. In 1973 they moved to Veradale in the Spokane Valley. Betty worked at an adult care facility and then for several District 81 elementary schools before retiring in 1986. She enjoyed family, road trips, and camping. She never saw a baby she didn’t want to hold and care for. Preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her only sibling Bob (Scotty) Weatherston, two nephews, and all but one of her 37 first cousins, she leaves to cherish her memory: her children Lloyd, Marilyn Trefry, Kathy (Don) Burton, Janice, Colleen (Ken) Jones, Jim (Mary), & Sheryl (Phil) Merrill in the Spokane area, Beth (Jay) McCurry in Three Forks, Montana, and Rob (Janet) in Lolo, Montana; twenty grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; her first cousin Elva O’Neill of Dublin Ireland; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other cousins.
