

Ila Mae Granlund was born April 6, 1926 to Aldus and Mamie Kendig at Rocklake, North Dakota. The family moved to Spokane in 1937 where Ila graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1945. She worked as a secretary at Grinnell Company, Beacon Chapel and Shloh Hills Fellowship, where she was an active member since 1946. She married Floyd Granlund in 1954 and the spent their life together until he went home to the Lord in 2006.
Ila’s many hobbies included oil painting, Many of her 150 paintings are in Spokane homes and surrounding areas. She and Floyd also enjoyed fixing up old houses where Ila learned to lay carpet, install windows, and tile bathrooms. They opened their home to three boys, throughout the years – Al Hassell of Coeur d’Alene, deceased, Randy Solem, deceased, and Hector Auffant of Seattle, with Hector becoming their “adopted” son.
Ila was preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd, and sisters Elva Clouse, Naomi Chryst, and Goldie Jaeger, as well as her sister-in-law May Granlund. She is survived by her “adopted” son Hector Auffant, and many treasured nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ila has requested that in lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Shiloh Hills Fellowship.
A memorial service for Ila will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Lilac Plaza Retirement Community, 7007 N Wiscomb St, Spokane, WA 99208.
