Jim is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Lane and her husband Steele Lane of Carrollton, Tx, son, Robert Bird of Jacksonville Fl, Grandchildren, Hali, Brenden, Hannah and Great Grandson, Asher, brothers Jerry and Michael of Seattle, Robert of Spokane, sisters Susan and Debbie of Spokane, numerous nieces and nephews, and his best friend, Kristin. He was preceded in death by his parents Ethel and Louis, Patricia and Jim, and brother, Patrick.
Jim is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served honorably in the Navy achieving the rank of Aviation Support Equipment Technician (Mechanical) 2. For his service from January 1970 to January 1981, he earned a National Defense Service Medal.
Jim AKA Birdman as he was affectionately known by his friends, loved dancing, working on cars, riding his Harley, and he was an amazing family Handyman! He never met a stranger and would always lend a helping hand. He was a proud member of the Patriot Guard and volunteered for veterans groups or participated in arranging veterans events.
His family has organized a memorial service to honor Jim's life and military service, which will be held at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery 21702 W Espanola Rd, Medical Lake, WA 99022 on July 21, 2021 at 9:45 am.
