

Jim went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, August 9, 2011. Jim was born on September 23, 1929 in Missoula, MT to Clarence and Myrtle Purdy. The youngest of seven children – he was preceded in death by his siblings: Mildred Johnson, Charles Purdy, Glen Purdy, Celia Robertson, Elsie Hall, and Wilbur Purdy. After living in California he moved with his family to Spokane in 1952 and was employed in the trucking business. In 1956 he began work with Ken Garff Trailer Sales in Spokane Valley, which he later purchased and became Purdy Homes. He relocated his Mobile Home business to Airway Heights and later went into the rental and sales of shipping containers under the name of Purdy Things, Inc. He still has holdings under Purdy Properties. Jim retired in 2008.
In earlier years he was involved in and held offices in the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce and was also on the Board of Directors of Trailer Coach of America, both Washington State and the National Office. Jim attended Valley Assembly of God Church.

Jim is survived by his wife of 14 years, Janet Purdy and by two sons: Jim Purdy of Bellevue, WA and Larry Purdy and his wife, Jenny of Federal Way, WA. His step-children include; Brad and Louise Marcus, Jeff and Barbara Marcus, Barry and Patty Marcus, Greg Marcus and Donna Klassen, and Kari and Scott Peterson. Grandchildren are; Ron Purdy of Los Angeles, CA and Shannon and Matt Upshaw of Spokane, WA. His nine Step-grandsons are: Brien, Kevin, Dallas, Josh, Justin, Gavin and Derek Marcus and Coulter and Spencer Peterson. The family also includes three great grandchildren: Makenzie and Makale Upshaw and Anna Marcus. Jim was a devoted family man who loved his family very much. He was a very patriotic person who loved God and his country. His favorite thing to do was eating and he could do it well.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Valley Assembly of God Church, 15618 E Broadway, Spokane Valley, WA.
