Rev. John P. McBride, SJ, died Oct. 20, 2017, in Los Gatos, CA, at the age of 92. Born in Coeur d’Alene, ID, he served in the 75th Infantry Division during WWII and saw action in the Battle of the Bulge and helped in the liberation of France. After the war Fr. McBride attended Gonzaga University (ROTC program), was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant, assigned to the 7th Calvary and went to Korea. He entered the Jesuits in 1952, was ordained a priest in 1961, and served in various parishes from Alaska to Oregon. Fr. McBride was a chaplain for 20 years at the federal penitentiaries at McNeil Island, WA, Lompoc, CA, and Sheridan, OR. He shifted to hospital ministry in Portland, OR, for 15 years before his retirement. The funeral Mass will be 10:00am, Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at St. Aloysius Church, 330 E. Boone, Ave, Spokane, WA.
