Lisa was born on March 26, 1967, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, to James Mays and Brenda Mays. She shared a unique and special bond with her mother, having been born on the same day. Raised by her mother, Lisa grew up surrounded by family, including her grandmothers Myretta Smith & Mabel Mays, and her uncles Paul and Spanky, who helped shape her vibrant spirit.
Lisa graduated from high school in Okmulgee and went on to live in many places including Oklahoma, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. Over the years, she worked in a variety of roles, including time at Plaid Pantry and Walmart. She had a ready smile, and a heart always open to others. Lisa was known for her crab salad, a potluck favorite requested time and time again.
In 1980, when her mother remarried, Lisa became a big sister to five little girls and was warmly welcomed by her stepfather, Leslie Crouch. She took her role as big sister to heart—always protective, always proud.
Lisa loved animals, especially dogs, and her home was never without a furry companion to love and spoil. But her greatest joy came from her family.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, James and Brenda, her grandmothers, Myretta & Mabel, and her uncles, Spanky and Paul. She is survived by her daughter, Brittany Rizzo, and her 6 grandchildren; her stepfather, Leslie Crouch; her half-siblings David and Susan, and her stepsisters, Rose, Angela, Leslie, Joy, and Crystal. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will all miss her.
Lisa will be remembered for her fierce love, her generous spirit, and the way she made everyone feel like family. She was the big sister you could count on, and her memory will live on in all who knew her.
