Mark was born December 30, 1956 in Spokane, Washington to Homer "Bud" and Patricia Hilborn. He graduated from Rogers High School in 1975 and completed two years of community college. He married Teresa Hilborn (nee Weightman) June 16, 1979 and they had three children.
Out of high school, Mark worked for Kehoe Hardware for 15 years and often helped the elderly with window repair (at times he was paid in baked goods). He went on to work for Spokane Public Schools in a variety of custodial positions, working his way up to finishing his career in the warehouse. He was servant-hearted, faithful and handy - helping anyone in need. Generally a soft-spoken guy, his passionate side came out when sports were involved. As a longtime player, he was inducted into the Spokane Metro Softball Hall of Fame in September 2016. He was an active member of New Hope Bible Church and served as a deacon and AWANA game director. He was a wonderful husband, father, "G-pa," son, brother and uncle and loved his family deeply.
Mark is survived by his wife, Teresa Hilborn; children, Nickole (Pat) Lacey, Laura (Rob) Confer, and Joseph Hilborn; grandson, Austin Lacey; mother, Pat Hilborn; sister, Susan Murphy; brother Scott (Kathy) Hilborn; sister-in-law Sherri Hilborn; and many nieces and nephews. He was also "Dad" to the Conner brothers, Joseph (wife, Lindy; children Grace, Hannah, Charity), Daniel, Jonathan, and Samuel.
He was preceded in death by his father Bud Hilborn and brother Mike Hilborn.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 2 p.m. at New Hope Bible Church, 1445 N. Argonne Rd., Spokane Valley. Fellowship time to follow. Gifts in Mark's memory may be made to New Hope Bible Church or the Union Gospel Mission.
