Mildred V. (Slack) Willis entered the gates of heaven on November 28, 2010 to be with her late husband, Oliver A. Willis. Mildred fought hard to win the big battle following surgery at Deaconess Medical Center. Words cannot express the amazing care she received in each phase of treatment for the 32 day fight. Thank you so much to the wonderful and caring staff we encountered every day.
Mildred was born in Sioux City, Iowa on April 19, 1930. Her family moved to northern Idaho where she met and married Oliver. They moved to Spokane, the Spokane valley, and also the foothills of Mt. Spokane. Oliver had the nice little farm he always wanted before his life was fulfilled. Mildred then settled in the Veradale area to live out the rest of hers.
Mildred was a homemaker the majority of her life, raising six children, Roger Willis, Duane Willis, Allen Willis, Phil Willis, and Kathy (Willis) Forney all of which are still living in the Inland Northwest. She also raised a daughter, Leatha Willis who preceded her in death. Mildred’s children gave her 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Mildred was involved in both the Moose and Eagles Lodges.
There will be a graveside service at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, 211 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA, Saturday, December 4th, 2010 at 2:30 pm. Please join us to celebrate with a Pepsi in hand, as this was her only request in those final days.
Arrangements with Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe St. in Spokane.
