

Richard Elliott Hoyle was born in 1927 to Willard Jesse and Emily Pearl (Simons) Hoyle in Portland, Oregon. Richard’s faith became sight as he met his Lord and Savior on December 21, 2015. He was the oldest of three sons and grew up on an apple orchard in Wenatchee, Washington, where he and his brothers worked both harvesting and packing apples. During his senior year of high school, Richard joined the Navy and served throughout the duration of World War II. Following his discharge, he attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho, earning a BA in Business. It was there he met Pearl LaRae Sabin and they married after she finished Nursing School. They had two children, Pam and Rollin, and after several moves finally settled in San Jose, California, where Richard worked as an accountant for Lockheed Missiles and Space. Upon retirement, they relocated to Deer Lake, Washington, where they enjoyed entertaining guests at their house on the lake, traveling in their RV and serving in their local church. One last move brought them to Spokane. Richard was preceded in death by his wife in 2012. He is survived by his two children, Pam Hester and Rollin (Jennifer) Hoyle; two brothers, Dr. Rodney (Jean) Hoyle, Leslie Hoyle and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016, 10:00am at Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene, 15515 E. 20th Ave with interment at Fairmount Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Nazarene Missions International in care of the church.
