Richard Junior Shears

Richard Shears, 84, of Spokane, WA, passed away on 4/11/25 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Karen Shears, his son, Keith Shears, brother, Chris Shears, parents John Shears and Vera Phillips, his grandson, Dominic Shears,

and his 4 legged partner in crime, Tristan.

Richard worked hard his entire life, with his best skills being in culinary arts and janitorial. He retired from Cataldo school as their custodian where he enjoyed several years bonding with the students there.

After his retirement, he enjoyed camping with his family, fishing with the guys, and reading. He continued to tinker with anything with an engine until his final breath.

Richard will be dearly missed by his children, Carrie (Garry) Rawley, Connie Ward, Kurt (Jan) Shears, Michael Shears, and Dustin Shears, along with his grandchildren, Wendy (Ray), Nathan, Amanda (Andy), Candy (Billy), Kimmie (Jason), Krystal, Suzi, Dalton (Stephanie), Rayanne (Cody), Kelsey (Andrew), Collin, Brock (Cassie), Evelyn (Tina), Ashley (Tim), Josh (Tish), and Michael. He is also survived by numerous great grand kids and honorary grandkids.

A special thank you to his bonus camping family that helped bring him so much joy these past few years; Mark and Jim, Nicolle, Ray and Teresa, John and Jenny, Dave and Nicole, Niki and Zeke, and Billy.

A celebration of life will be announced.
