Shirley recently celebrated her 90th birthday. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1951. She attended business college in Boise, Idaho in 1952. After graduation she worked as a secretary. She met Charlie Flint in 1952 at a dance in Boise, Idaho. They were married in Elko, Nevada, on July 12, 1953.
Shirley stayed busy raising her seven children while Charlie served in the United States Air Force as a Boom Operator. During their 28 years of service, the Air Force moved the family frequently and they lived in Mountain Home, ID; El Paso, TX; and Altus, OK, before finally settling in Medical Lake, WA, near Fairchild AFB in 1972. Shirley went back to work when the family returned to Washington. Later she worked at Interlake School until it closed and retired from Sola.
Shirley was a huge sports fan, and especially loved the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, and Gonzaga basketball. She loved cheering for and attending her family’s activities. Shirley was an avid reader and amazing pen-pal. She also loved camping and huckleberry picking with her family near Priest Lake, Idaho.
