

Florence “Flo” Ann Walker was born in Northern Michigan to Lee and Florence (Holman) Hulett on August 19, 1929. She graduated from Northern Michigan College in Marquette, MI, and received her Master’s Degree in 1957 from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI. Flo taught kindergarten for 15 years in Michigan and for 27 years in Prior Lake, MN. She married Ronald Walker on August 5, 1961 in Dearborn, MI. They resided in Spooner for 44 years. She retired in 1993. Flo cared for Ron as he struggled with Alzheimer’s until he passed away on November 12, 2000. Flo loved to travel, playing golf, and bridge. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and amongst other endeavors, she was instrumental in the creation of the out-of-doors worship area at the church. She also volunteered in many facets of the Alzheimer’s Association, including the board, and the Happy Day Respite at Trinity.
She is survived by; one son, Thomas (Teresa) Walker of Cottage Grove, and one daughter, Sheri (Jerry) Granmo of Duluth, four grandchildren, Keaton, Quintin, McCall, and Matson, one step-grandson, Brandon (Katie) Granmo of Superior, and one step-great-grandson Liam. She was preceded by, her husband, Ronald, grandson, Braden Walker, six brothers and two sister.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spooner at 11:00 am with Pastor Russ Leeper officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 pm on Tuesday, Aug 13, at Dahl Funeral Home in Spooner, and for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Casket Bearers are Andy Dettle, Brandon Granmo, Greg Granmo, Jerry Granmo, Keaton Walker, and Greg Weber. Memorials may be directed to the National Lymphoma Society or the Happy Day Respite of Spooner % Trinity Lutheran Church, 1790 Scribner St., Spooner, WI 54801. Interment will be in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
