
Kathryn was born June 8, 1941 in Oklahoma City, OK the daughter of William Boyd and Clura Kathryn (Miller) Nation. She graduated from high school and then received training to become a certified nursing assistant. On August 10, 1959 Kathryn was joined in marriage to William D. Ferguson in Dubuque, IA. Kathryn and William moved to California while William served in the U.S. Marine Corp. She worked as a shop steward at the Lockheed Aircraft Plant in CA. They moved back to Spooner, WI where Kathryn went to work for the Shell Lake Hospital as a CNA. While working at the hospital Kathryn was also working with Shell Lake Ambulance Service and A & H Ambulance Service in Burnett County as an EMT volunteer. She was a school bus driver for the Spooner school system, and then worked at Red Cross Pharmacy and Pamida in Spooner for 15 years. Kathryn was a hard worker who was always helping others. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and loved caring for dogs.
Kathryn is survived by her four sons, Richard of Spooner, Randy of Eagle, WI, Kelly (Debbie) of Spooner, and Kerry (Colleen) of Johnson Creek, WI; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, William (Elizabeth) Nation and Dick Nation; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William; and one granddaughter.
A memorial service celebrating Kathryn’s life will be held on Friday, May 24th at 2 pm at Dahl Funeral Home in Spooner with Father Ed Anderson officiating. A time of gathering with the family will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
